چکیده

Most biological flyers undergo orderly deformation in flight, and the deformations of wings lead to complex fluid-structure interactions. In this paper, an aerodynamic-structural coupling method of flapping wing is developed based on ANSYS to simulate the flapping of flexible wing. Firstly, a three-dimensional model of the cicada’s wing is established. Then, numerical simulation method of unsteady flow field and structure calculation method of nonlinear large deformation are studied basing on Fluent module and Transient Structural module in ANSYS, the examples are used to prove the validity of the method. Finally, Fluent module and Transient Structural module are connected through the System Coupling module to make a two-way fluidstructure Coupling computational framework. Comparing with the rigid wing of a cicada, the coupling results of the flexible wing shows that the flexible deformation can increase the aerodynamic performances of flapping flight.

Numerical solution of unsteady flow on airfoils with vibrating local flexible membrane

Unsteady flow separation on the airfoils with local flexible membrane (LFM) has been investigated in transient and laminar flows by the finite volume element method. A unique feature of the present method compared with the common computational fluid dynamic softwares, especially ANSYS CFX, is the modification using the physical influence scheme in convection fluxes at cell surfaces. In contr...

Loading Estimation of Flapping Wings under Aeroelastic Effect Using Finite Element Method

The aim of this paper is to provide an aeroelastic computational tool which determines the induced wing loads during flapping flight. For this purpose, a Finite Element (FE) code based on a four-node plate bending element formulation is developed to simulate the aeroelastic behavior of flapping wings in low incompressible flow. A quasi-steady aerodynamic model is incorporated into the aeroelast...

A Numerical Framework for Isotropic and Anisotropic Flexible Flapping Wing Aerodynamics and Aeroelasticity

A numerical framework is presented to simulate rigid and flexible flapping wings. The fluid-structure interaction is realized by coupling a Navier-Stokes solver to a geometrically nonlinear co-rotational structural solver. In the coupled fluid-structure interaction interface the aerodynamic loading and deformed wing surface are shared by two solvers within each time step. A remeshing method bas...

Modeling of Instantaneous Passive Pitch of Flexible Flapping Wings

While the biological flyers often showcase high deformed wing structures, the effects of flexibility on the flapping wing aerodynamics remain inadequately understood. A major challenge in the study of flexible flapping wings is that the resulting wing motion is an outcome of a dynamic balance between the structural dynamics of the wing and the unsteady aerodynamics. Since the effective angle of...

Integrated Flight Dynamic Modeling of Flexible Aircraft with Inertial Force-Propulsion-Aeroelastic Coupling

This paper presents an integrated flight dynamic modeling method for flexible aircraft that captures coupled physics effects due to inertial forces, aeroelasticity, and propulsive forces that are normally present in flight. The present approach formulates the coupled flight dynamics using a structural dynamic modeling method that describes the elasticity of a flexible, twisted, swept wing using...
